Small town Americana

I got this shot today, in Riverton, Kansas. It's down in the Southwest corner of the state and is only a little over an hour from Springfield.

It's a market (of some kind) and also, as here, in good weather, an open air restaurant. I thought it looked fantastic.  I couldn't stop for breakfast so I think I'll go back on a Saturday and just take in all the shade and peacefulness and quiet. It looks like quite the spot.  To me, anyway.

I thought it picture-perfect, figuratively and literally. Coincidentally, it really is on old Route 66, too, as the sign suggests.

Makes you want to go, doesn't it?  It does me. It looked and felt like a remnant of what some Mayberry, RFD would look and feel like.

Plaza, Father and Son

I thought the kid looked great, what with his New York Yankees cap and all. I couldn't resist.

Afternoon sun

Yesterday afternoon.  This is the actual color of the sky, too. The only thing edited was the cropping of the image.

Weekend lunch

I went to lunch, over the weekend, at the restaurant in the

Kemper Museum of Contemporary ArtCafe' Sebastienne.

This was simply but nicely and even beautifully put, I thought, at the maitre d's station, at the entrance.

A terrific, light lunch. I highly recommend the grilled asparagus.

That said, I've not had anything bad there yet.
