It's Been a Beautiful Spring

From a couple weeks ago, here in the area.

Restored Beauty

This was recently redone, rehabbed, reworked and restored. It was a beautiful old house anyway but it looks fantastic now. As always, click on picture for larger view.

It's at about 55th St and Ward Parkway.

Golden Sunrise

Just that, golden sunrise today, on the way to work.

This is about 71st and Ward Parkway. I saw it on the way to work and knew I had to pull over and get it.

Nawlinz

Easter Sunday

In the Easter Parade, the one and only Bourbon Street, in the French Quarter, New Orleans.

The driver said it's a 1944 something or other. Sorry I can't be more informative.

Six Six

On the way home from work this evening, on Shawnee Mission Parkway.

It was a young guy driving, too, for once. Not an older gentleman. Surprised me.

Remember

A year ago this week, I was in Atlanta for 3 weeks, on vacation. I shot this there in Piedmont Park.

I post this here, now, for a two reasons.

First, it's to remind us. I think we need, after this cold, icy, snowy, grey winter to be reminded of what was out there. Reminded of what comes around every year. Reminded of what is soon to come, as Spring will surely, one day soon, be here again. I know I've nearly forgotten.

Second, I post this because I wrote, a year ago yesterday, that it was 61 degrees in Atlanta at that time.

But the heck of it?

It was 62 degrees that same day in Kansas City.

So have hope, Kansas Citians, Midwesterners.

Spring will surely come back and it will be here soon.

Doesn't This Seem Forever Ago?

Forever ago or a different lifetime or something but it was only this Summer.

On the East side of the Plaza. This was 2010, nearly to the day, January 14. Long gone now, sadly.

Preparing for the Game

Check out who I saw today, this afternoon, walking the streets of Westport.

Yessir, no doubt getting ready for the big, big game this weekend.

GO CHIEFS!!

Majestic

Seems the name of the restaurant may also be referring to their old building itself.

James Nutter Would Be Pleased

I believe Mr. Nutter, now-deceased James Nutter, local real estate magnate and mortgage lender, would be pleased, still, to this day, I think, were he here, with the neighborhood he bought and adopted.

Happy holidays, everyone. Enjoy that beautiful weather out there.

I drove by this and loved the color and shade and shadow and light, all of it. Knew I had to have it.

Go, if you can. Especially if it's not a weekend.

Back When We Did Architecture VI

Note, too, on this, it's gorgeous and big and soaring and majestic....but it's not a court of justice or anything nearly so huge and noble. It was just created as an "all purpose center."

Back When We Did Architecture V

Not only did we, as a city and society, do architecture and do it right, but these were all over Kansas City.

Sadly, very sadly, we've torn an awful lot of them down.

Back When We Did Architecture IV

Again, East side.

Back When We Did Architecture III

Again, from the East side of the city.

Disgustingly, as if to prove my point, this is across the street from the above.

They honestly don't make them like they used.

And mind you, this was for the middle class of the day, too.
